Uncle Bob won a cookout in his town because of his amazing chicken fried steak casserole dish. Uncle Bob is one of my mother’s brothers who lives a few hours away from where we live. He owns a small farm which he is able to manage because of his hardworking wife. Aunt Leona is a tough lady who keeps my uncle controlled. He’s a bit of a rebel and only Aunt Leona managed to tame him. I have no idea how, but it’s a really good thing because he used to give his siblings a headache!
During last reunion, Uncle Bob told us how he won a cookout organized by the town. It was a mini gathering, a sort of fun night for everyone in town. It’s a mini Thanksgiving that’s celebrated only by their town. It was supposed to be Aunt Leona who should have joined, but she was too busy helping the other members of the committee with regards to the decorations so she wasn’t able to join. Since Uncle Bob thought it wouldn’t be the same without his wife, he joined himself. And he won! He won by revamping his wife’s popular dish. He added a bit of new ingredients to give it his own flavor and the judges loved it! Here is a copy of Uncle Bob’s casserole to beat! Enjoy!
