Choose Your Flavor when You Hack This Old-Fashioned Dessert

While the recipe led me to another for basic vanilla cake, I decided to go the easy route and use a Betty Crocker box mix. I always add a little applesauce instead of oil to my box mixes because it makes them extra moist. When the cake was cooled, all I had to do was simply spread my peach preserves in the middle, then dust the top with powdered sugar.

I should call this my “tricky” cake because it looks as though I put a ton of effort, and it tastes like it too! Everyone loved it, and I feel like it’s one of those hacks that will serve me well in the future. You won’t find an easier cake recipe! Plus, you still have the fresh baked smell in the house that everyone loves.
