BBQ Inside And Make Believe It’s Still Summer!

Check out what my friends at Chef in Training had to say about this new slow cooker bacon wrapped apple chicken:

My husband is so excited about having this for dinner tonight! I honestly can’t remember the last time he was excited about what I was making for dinner. We both can’t wait to try it and I will let you know what we think of it. We used the Sweet Baby Ray’s Original BBQ Sauce. One question I have is: Could you double this recipe and get the same result? It would be two layers in the crock pot and I was wondering what you thought about that. I’m obviously a novice in the kitchen so I really have no clue about these things!

What’s really cool about this is it ‘seems’ as though it was grilled. Since you wrap the chicken in bacon it stays intact, making it a little different than the typical crock pot recipes we’re all used to. Either way the combination is a winning one, and we couldn’t wait to try it!

Ingredients

4 Tyson boneless skinless chicken breasts

1 cup BBQ sauce, I LOVE Sweet Baby Rays

¼ cup Domino brown sugar

⅛ cup lemon juice, fresh or from a bottle

5 small apples, peeled and chopped, I used gala

8 slices Thorn Apple Valley bacon

Instructions:

Spray the slow cooker with cooking spray.

Mix together BBQ sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice and peeled/chopped apples.

Wrap each chicken breast with two slices of bacon, place in a the slow cooker.

Pour BBQ sauce mixture over chicken and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until chicken is done.

Quick Tip: Different types of barbecue sauce can give this recipe a varying flavor, try it with a mustard-based option!

Thank you to Chef in Training for this awesome recipe!

I think this recipe looks awesome! If you get a chance, use an Air Fryer…. It will crisp up the bacon some and add a little extra YUM to the flavor 🙂

Question what happens to all the grease from the bacon ? The side of bacon touching the chicken doesnt really cook at all does it ?
