I love these fudgy treats. You wouldn’t think they’d be that way by looking at them but they are such a surprise! They satisfy my cravings with ease, which is why this recipe is a keeper for me and my whole family. The best part is, there is hardly any cleanup at all. You can make these in one bowl!

Ingredients

5 1/2 ounces Land O Lakes unsalted butter, half melted

1 cup packed Domino light brown sugar

1 1/8 tsp salt

1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp maple syrup, divided

1 large Eggland’s egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp baking soda

1 3/4 cups walnuts, chopped, divided (optional)

Instructions:

Adjust oven rack to upper middle position and preheat oven to 375F. Line a 9×9″ (or 8×8″) baking pan with parchment paper, with overhang for easy removal. Spray with cooking spray.

Combine butter, brown sugar and salt in large bowl, stir well. Add 1/2 cup maple syrup and egg, stirring until combined. Add flour and baking soda to bowl, mix until fully combined. Stir in 1 1/2 cups walnuts, if using.

Spread the batter into prepared pan, spreading it evenly and smoothing out the top. Drizzle remaining 2 Tbsp maple syrup over top and swirl into batter. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup walnuts.

Bake in the preheated oven until golden and just set in center, about 25 minutes. Avoid over baking. Transfer pan to wire rack to cool.

Remove from pan and cut.
