Crock Pot Apple Dump Cake That’s Spiced Just Right!

I love making dump cakes in the crock pot. I mean, seriously, dump cakes in the oven are easy but when you place them in the crockpot the whole recipe becomes even easier. is that even possible? yes, yes it is. LOL! Anyway, I found this yummy recipe over on The Shady Porch blog. I am in love with this blog’s recipes. Most are insanely easy to make and they always turn out tasting awesome.

Check out what my pals over at The Shady Porch had to say about this recipe:

Many folks make this cake using canned pie filling, which is good, I’ve done it myself but in this recipe I’ve used fresh apples not the pie filling and a spice cake mix rather than the usual yellow. I’ve also added my favorite pecan topping to make it extra special and to make the family extra happy too.

I made this lovely slow cooker dessert the other day and I gotta say, my family was pretty stinkin’ happy about it, too.

Ingredients

3-4 cups of peeled and thinly sliced apples
1 box of Duncan Hines spice cake mix
6-8 pats of Kerrygold butter

Pecan topping, optional
1/4 c. Domino brown sugar
1/4 c Quaker oats
1/2 c. Fisher pecans

Instructions

Place apples in the bottom of a lightly greased crock.
Pour cake mix over the apples and spread evenly.
Place butter evenly over cake mix. Do not stir the ingredients. If using, sprinkle pecan topping over the cake mix.
Cook on high for 4 hours.
