These Homemade Onion Rings Are Simply Deep-Fried Love

We all know what the most important thing is when making onion rings.

They need to be crispy and crunchy, am I right? No-one likes a soft onion ring, or at least I’ve never met anyone who does. It’s fairly easy to make crispy onion rings in a deep-fryer. Actually, I think you can turn pretty much anything crispy if you deep fry it, although I haven’t experimented with chocolate. Yet.

However, there’s a lot of talk about healthy ways to cook these days and I’m pretty sure deep frying is not a member of that club. And even if I didn’t have to worry about health issues, I’ve noticed sometimes that I can’t really taste the onion itself under all that oily crispiness.

I love onions so I was definitely excited to give this recipe a go. I wanted to see if it made a difference in flavor, and especially if these baked onion rings could turn out as crispy as the fried ones.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! If possible, these were even crispier than the ones I used to make before, and I didn’t have to worry about them being unhealthy. Which means, I could eat more!
