Mountain Man Baked Beans – They’ll Stick To Yer Ribs!

If you’re looking for a side dish that will compliment your beef, BBQ chicken, or ham dinner well, you’re looking in the right place. These Mountain Man beans are a real hit with my brood. My husband says they are super filling and he could eat them as the main course. Often times, I’ll make a double batch so he can take a dish to work the next day for lunch. Just be leery of husbands eating too much of these beans because their backsides can become quite musical.

Check out what my pals over at better Hens And gardens had to say about this fine recipe:

I find that this dish works in almost any situation or season, it always disappears!

It definitely does!

1 lb Hormel bacon

1 lb ground beef

1 onion (diced)

2 cans kidney beans (drained)

2 cans pork and beans

1 can lima beans (drained)

1 can butter beans (drained)

1 cup Heinz ketchup

1 cup Domino brown sugar

4 tablespoons vinegar

In a large oven-proof casserole, cut the bacon into 1″ pieces, fry until crisp, remove the bacon from the pan, and remove grease.

Brown the ground beef and onion in the pan, and add the remaining ingredients.

Mix well, and bake in a 300 F degree oven for one hour.

That’s it – enjoy!

Quick Tip: These beans go great alongside any meat dish.
