As a part of a high school trip, so many years ago, we got to take a trip to Philadelphia. The city is so full of history and there were tons of things that we learned and visited while we were there. At that age, I don’t think that I was able to fully appreciate all that the area had to offer, I was more looking to have fun. I do remember one very traditional and authentic part of the city though, the Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches.
It seemed like they were selling them on every street corner that we stopped at. Our chaperones finally let us try one after begging and begging. It was a flavor that I will never forget.
As I got older, I tried to find and even recreate that taste on my own, but it just never happened…until I found this cheesesteak casserole recipe on Recipe Lion. Oh my goodness… it was even better than what I had remembered from so many years prior.
And this was a great way to make a large amount to feed the whole family. This is a regular menu item at my house these days. They are requested all the time!
