You’ll Never Guess What’s In This Special Red Velvet Cake!

Bet You’ve Never Tried It This Way Before

This gingerbread red velvet cake reminds me of my childhood. When I was a kid, my Mom used to make gingerbread men for me and my brother. She’s quite the artist actually, so she could make amazing gingerbread houses and men. Sometimes, she lets us make our own. But since I was still a kid back then, I could only make a gingerbread dog house. One of my fondest childhood memories was that gingerbread house making. It’s fun and it’s a bonding moment for the family. Dad was never patient with making one though so he always just ate everything.

I haven’t tried making these for my family, but I was planning this year. I am having a bit of a practice, but it’s not going well. My husband helps me with it because he thinks it’s going to be fun.

I have another favorite cake that my Mom used to make for the holidays- red velvet cake! Her cream cheese frosting tasted so good with the cake. Everyone loved her red velvet cake and we couldn’t have enough.

This gingerbread red velvet cake recipe from The Kitchn reminds me of those two childhood favorites. This combines the classic taste of red velvet and the flavors of gingerbread spices. This recipe is definitely a must try for the family.
