So Many Amazing Flavors Are Going On In This Roasted Chicken!

When I served this to my family, my husband immediately asked what was on the barbecue sauce. He said it tastes different, but good different. He even scooped a few more to his chicken piece because he thought it tasted so good. When I told him it was apple butter, he was a bit skeptical. Well, husband dear, you weren’t the only one. I was skeptical too the first time I read the recipe. But then again, it turned out quite well, didn’t it? He could only agree.

See what our friends from Cooking With Sugar have to say about this recipe:

“Oven Roasted Chicken with Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce is an easy chicken recipe that a friend recommended to me this summer. I have used Apple Butter in cakes and desserts but never in a BBQ sauce. I took her basic recipe and jazzed it up to make it my own.  I think I came up with an amazing combination of flavors that works so well with chicken.”

Just like what was mentioned at Cooking With Sugar, you might want to try this with ribs. Since it tastes really good with chicken, it will probably taste as good with ribs. Try it and let me know!

When ready to cook, preheat oven to 450°F oven with rack on the second level from the top. Place chicken on baking pan sprayed with Pam, skin side up uncovered, and roast for about 30 minutes or until chicken is done.

Once chicken is done remove from oven baste once more with sauce and serve extra sauce on the side.
