Hot Mac And…Cheetos? You’ve Gotta Try This!

I made this Mac and Cheetos for my husband. He is a fan of that brand, and he always has about ten packs at the pantry. I am more of a potato chip kind of woman, but I would never say no to a package of Cheetos. My husband loves the spicy flavor while I love the plain one. And you can use either for this recipe. However, since my husband loves the spicy kind, it’s the one I used. But this is a pretty flexible recipe; you can adjust the ingredients based on your preferences.

Check out what our friends over at Delish have to say about this amazing recipe:

“Here’s how you eat Flamin’ Hot Cheetos without turning your fingers red.”

Well, it’s true. You don’t have to spend an hour in the bathroom trying to bring your hands back to its usual color. You can enjoy your favorite Cheetos without that hassle because of this classic recipe!

Enjoy this meal with your family and friends!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Prince cavatappi pasta
  • 1/2 c. Kerrygold butter
  • 1/2 c. Gold Medal flour
  • 1 tsp. McCormick cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Morton salt
  • 1/2 tbsp. McCormick Black pepper
  • 4 c. Borden milk
  • 4 c. Sargento shredded sharp white cheddar, divided into 3 1/2 c and 1/2 c
  • 2 c. Sargento shredded pepper Jack cheese
  • 3 tbsp. Kerrygold butter
  • 1/4 c. panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 c. Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sprinkle in flour, whisking to create a roux. Add cayenne, salt, and pepper. Slowly pour in milk, whisking as you go. Keep whisking as it simmers and thickens, 5-6 minutes. Add cheddar and Pepper Jack, stirring until melted and combined. Remove mixture from heat. Add pasta to a 9-inch-by-13-inch baking dish and pour cheese sauce on top, stirring gently to combine.
  3. Melt butter over medium heat. Add panko and Cheetos, stirring constantly for 3-4 minutes, or until lightly golden. Sprinkle on top of macaroni in an even layer. Bake 12-15 minutes, or until cheese has melted, then serve.
