Dorina’s Friendly Triple Chocolate Scones

Dorina is the daughter of one of our neighbors. We’re not really super close because she doesn’t live with her parents anymore, but whenever she’s in town, we’re really friendly. Her parents had been really accommodating to me and my boyfriend and it’s weird not to be nice to their also nice daughter. Just recently, Dorina happened to see me after my morning jog and waved me over. We chatted for a while and asked about each other’s lives, before she invited me for breakfast. She told me she has something wonderful cooking in the kitchen and since her parents weren’t around, she needed someone to share them with her.

It turned out they were scones! I thought they were desserts at first because they smelled and looked like dessert cookies. Oh my goodness! They tasted really good. All those chocolate goodness in one scone was too much and I knew if it wasn’t emabarrassing to cry, I would have. Dorina probably knew though because she was giggling. There must be something in my reaction that told her how I was enjoying them. Those scones became the bridge between the two of us. We exchanged numbers and we’re now constantly communicating through text messages and even emails. After that day, I gained a friend! And a… er… pound.

Quick Tip: Use the extra-large Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate chunks, as they leave big pockets of melted chocolate goodness with each bite.
