Ali’s Accidental Root Beer Barbecue Chicken

This is an easy prep recipe because all you have to do is put together the ingredients in the slow cooker and it will cook itself. This is perfect for anyone who’s a bit busy dealing with other stuff such as work or household chores. You can never go wrong with this, most especially because it’s root beer-flavored!

Our friend over at The Seasoned Mom has this to say about this recipe:

“Nobody in the house needs to know that this dinner requires about 5 minutes of prep time on my part! Like most of my favorite slow cooker recipes, I can just stir these ingredients together, turn on the pot, and go about our day. When everyone is tired and hungry later in the evening, I just shred the meat and serve it on sandwich buns. I have four very happy men in my house and very little clean up on my part. Does it get much better?”

The wonders of slow cookers still astound me up to this day. They’re a total time and effort saver and they just make lives easier! But this dish, even without the slow cooker, I will always find the time to make this! It’s so delicious. It’s a must try for any meat lovers out there.

Ingredients

3-4 lbs. Tyson boneless, skinless chicken thighs

½ teaspoon kosher salt

½ teaspoon McCormick garlic powder

¼ teaspoon McCormick pepper

1 cup Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce

1 cup root beer soda

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Place chicken in bottom of a large slow cooker. Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and pepper.

In a separate bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients.

Pour sauce over chicken.

Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours. I like to remove the lid of my slow cooker during the final hour of cooking to allow the sauce to thicken a bit.
