Alex’s Spicy Orange Chicken And A Childhood Nemesis

I haven’t seen Alex for a while, so when she suddenly paid me a visit, we spent the whole day talking about our lives. We had a bit of catching up to do and we did just that during her visit. Alex was one of my childhood friends. She was one of those friends that I don’t often get to talk to, but still remained close to me. I just learned that she was about to get married to. And to someone I knew. I was actually quite surprised that she would marry her childhood enemy. And when she told me how they got together, all I could say was, “Thank you, Orange Chicken”.

There was this guy who often antagonized Alex when we were kids. We had a bit of a suspicion that he liked her, which was why he acted like that. He left town in high school. I didn’t know that he came back to manage his parents’ farms and it’s how he met Alex again. During one potluck, Alex brought her spicy orange chicken dish that was a favorite of everyone. The guy, who didn’t know it was Alex, approached her and complimented the dish, telling her how delicious it was. They spent the night talking and even agreed to meet again. It was only during the next meeting that they remembered they’re each other’s sworn enemies. They just laughed about the memories. And the rest, as they say, was history.
