This Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Is Too Hot To Handle

I was born in a tight-knit family. It’s not uncommon for relatives to visit and stay for days until you know them better than you know yourself. It’s how I learned that my uncle has diabetes. No, he didn’t tell me. I learned about it because I witnessed him being reprimanded by my aunt, his wife, one cold night in the kitchen because she caught him devouring the cooling chocolate chip cookies that would be packed in boxes the next day to give away for Christmas.

I couldn’t really blame him though. Chocolate Chip Cookies were too irresistible to ignore. The house was filled with chocolatey goodness all afternoon. Then they were just there on display, sitting on the cooling racks, and calling to anyone like a seductive predator waiting for its prey to come to it. In my uncles shoes, I would have done the same. Except that I would have eaten them with warm milk while I was at it.
