This Easy Sweet Pea Casserole Is Just Like Your Mama Used To Make

The other day, while I was doing the dishes, I stood looking out my kitchen window to where my garden used to be and longed for those sweet summer days. I love working in my garden and gathering up the harvest from the fruits of my labor. There’s just something about growing your own food that’s intensely satisfying.

One of my favorite vegetables to grow is sweet peas. You can buy canned sweet peas at the grocery store but nothing tastes as good as garden-fresh ones. Considering that we are in the month of December and it isn’t even technically winter yet, I’ve got a long wait ahead of me before I can have my garden planted again.

One of the things I like to make with sweet peas is a delightful casserole called “sweet pea casserole.” It’s super delish and is made with, of course, sweet peas, bacon, onions, and a creamy sauce. I LOVE making this casserole with my own garden-fresh peas.

However, since it is wintertime (officially, tomorrow) using frozen or canned will have to do. Maybe you might want to make this casserole for your holiday meal? I’m sure your friends and family will appreciate it, especially your mama 🙂
