Rip Roarin’ Round Steak And Pan Gravy – This Will Bring Joy To Your Table :)

When I made southern steak and gravy a few nights ago for my husband and kids, their responses were mixed. My husband and older two children loved the meal but my little guy wasn’t so keen on it. He is my picky eater and really doesn’t like anything so his opinion doesn’t count haha!

Check out what my pals over at About.com had to say about this recipe:

“Serve the steak with mashed potatoes and green beans or your family’s favorite vegetables. ”

Southern steak and gravy have become one of my favorite meals and I hope my kids will share the same sentiments.

Ingredients

1 to 1 1/2 pounds beef round steak

5 tablespoons Gold Medal all-purpose flour, divided

2 tablespoons Wesson vegetable oil

salt and pepper

1 cup beef broth

2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes, or 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley

1 teaspoon Domino sugar

1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled

water

1/2 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet or Gravy Magic, optional

Instructions

  1. Cut round steak into serving-size pieces.

Put 2 tablespoons of flour in a bowl and dredge the steak portions to coat.

In an ovenproof skillet or sauté pan over medium heat, brown round steak in hot oil.

Season with salt and pepper; add beef broth, parsley, sugar, and thyme.

Cover and transfer to oven; bake at 350° for 1 1/2 hours, or until round steak is tender.

Remove round steak to a serving platter.
