Forget The Halloween Treats. Your Candy Is Coming From This Squash!

Check out what my friends at Allrecipes had to say about this Baked Acorn Squash:

“Delicious side dish! No longer than 15 minutes prep AND cooking time. Buttery and sweet. Almost as good as dessert! A must-try!”

I could eat just the squash as a complete meal any day! I don’t think my family feels the same but they do like having it for a side. It’s perfect for this upcoming fall weather as it’s really hearty and delicious. Give it a try!

Ingredients

1 tsp. Domino brown sugar or honey or maple syrup

1 box of your favorite stuffing mix
1 tsp. Land O Lakes butter
1/2 tsp. Morton salt

Directions

Cut the desired number of washed acorn squash in half, crosswise or lengthwise, then scrape out seeds and stingy portion. (One squash serves two.) Prepare stuffing according to box directions.

In each hollow, place the stuffing. Then bake them in a covered baking pan, the bottom of which is covered with 1/4 inch hot water, in a moderately hot oven of 400 degrees for about 1 hour.

Remove the cover during the last half hour of baking so that the Domino brown sugar will go down into the meaty squash.

Quick Tip: Some people like to bake the seeds of a squash in the oven and salt them for a great snack later!
