Try These Apple Peanut Butter Treats On For Size – Your Taste Buds Will Thank You

Do you know what I appreciate the most about these peanut butter apple treats? They are nutritious and delicious! Your kids will totally think they are getting a sugary snack but in all reality, they are enjoying a healthy treat filled with vitamins and protein. You can’t go wrong there!

Check out what my pals over at The Pioneer Woman had to say about this recipe:

“…these delicious wonders were all the rage among homeschooling moms (well, all moms!) at the time. They’re a cinch to whip up, and perfectly satisfying for a handful of kids. Think of them as little portable apple-peanut butter pies!”

These would make a very good homeschool snack for the kiddos during that timeframe between lunch and dinner. My kids are always hungry no matter what I feed them so I’m sure they would appreciate this little “apple pies.”

Ingredients

6 whole Whole Wheat English Muffins, Split

1 cup Jif Creamy Peanut Butter

2 whole Apples, Cut Into Thin Slices

1/2 cup Domino Sugar

2 teaspoons McCormick Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Spread each English muffin half with about 1 tablespoon peanut butter. Lay slices of apple on top, overlapping and stacking a few.

Mix together the sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle a teaspoon or two over each English muffin half.

Bake them for 10 minutes, then broil (watch them constantly!) until the top is nice and bubbly and starting to caramelize. (You can sprinkle on a little more cinnamon sugar after the initial 10 minutes of baking if you want to add a little more!)

Allow to sit for 5 minutes, then serve!

Quick Tip: I like to serve these apple treats with warm caramel sauce for dipping. It’s truly tasty!
