This Lemon Cream Cake Is The Answer To Your Dessert Prayers

My sister and I went out for dinner this past weekend to the Olive Garden. I always enjoy eating at this place, especially because of the endless salad and breadsticks that they serve. I think I could just eat those without ever ordering anything else. Well, maybe the mushroom ravioli because that stuff is GOOD. After we finished our dinner, my sister and I were totally stuffed, but then we spotted this amazing looking cake on the dessert cart. The server told us that it was a lemon cream cake. Naturally, my sister and I claimed a piece to share. Just so you know, she ate more of it than I did. Tee hee!

This cake was super good. Some lemon cakes are very dry, but this was moist, rich and creamy. It was two cakes put together with a lemon custard sauce sandwiched in the middle. My sister was eating it faster than I was so she got more, however, she disagrees with this statement and claims I was the one who was hogging all the lemon cake. Not true! Anyway, we decided that I must make this cake and bring it to my nieces birthday party.

Quick Tip: If you aren’t into making layer cakes, just make one single layer in a 9×13 pan and pour the custard topping over top of the cake. Keep in mind that this layer cake truly isn’t hard to make at all, though.

Do you mean Borden heavy whipping cream? And what is McCormick lemon zest? I thought lemon zest could only be gotten by grating lemon rind with a zester, a special tool. Does McCormick sell dried lemon zest in the spice aisle?
