5 Weeknight Entrees You Need To Try NOW!

In our case, we love having burgers beyond the traditional fourth of July occasion or BBQ.  We enjoy them as a special treat on a weeknight where my husband gets home early or during a stay-at-home movie night.  We really will find any excuse to eat burgers, but we don’t like to buy them.  The ones you find at fast food joints, or even the better quality burger joints just don’t have the same flavors and texture as a burger made at home.

Ever since we started making these burgers at home, we haven’t gone back to purchased or even frozen ones.  I don’t even remember the last time we bought some of those.  These are too good to pass up and your family will love them.

Check out this helpful tip from Susie:

“I topped mine with small pieces of Smoked Mozzarella cheese and served them on the mini buns.  These burgers in the picture were made with red bell pepper and yellow sundried tomatoes in olive oil.  It is what I had in the refrigerator.”

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs lean ground turkey meat

1/4 cup diced yellow pepper

1/4 cup chopped sundried tomatoes in oil (drained and patted dry)

1 egg white

2 Tbsp Italian herb bread crumbs

1/2 small onion diced

1 small garlic clove minced

1/4 tsp dried Italian herbs

2 Tbsp fresh chopped basil

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt & Pepper

Instructions

  1.  Combine with the ground turkey meat:  the diced yellow pepper, sundried tomatoes, egg white, Italian herb bread crumbs, chopped fresh basil, Worcestshire sauce, salt and pepper to taste.
  2. In a small pan saute the diced yellow onion, minced garlic clove, and Italian dried herbs in 1 1/2 Tbsp of butter.  Saute approximately 10 minutes until onions are translucent.   Do not brown the onions.  Add these to the above ground turkey meat mixture.
  3. Mix thoroughly with your hands.
  4. Form into 12 patties small enough to fit into mini hamburger buns for Sliders.
  5. Grill them 3-4 minutes per side on a hot grill.

Quick Tip: Use Hawaiian sweet rolls for the buns.  We have found these to have the perfect texture as well as sweet taste and it makes the burgers that much better.

Thank you To Susie Cucina for this great recipe.
