A Casserole in a Crock Pot? …Well Yes, and it’s To-Die-For!

Swap out the casserole dish and throw everything in the slow cooker to find your freedom once again! Loaded with juicy browned ground beef and hearty bowtie pasta, this dish will fill the bellies of the masses. With fresh spinach hidden throughout, sneaking in some veggies to the kids is a cinch with this dish.

They won’t even notice, right?! Pair it with a crunchy side salad and some crispy buttered bread and you have yourself a hearty meal.

Make sure you hide the leftovers quickly if you want to save them for lunch the next day…

You can leave the spinach out all together or substitute any other leafy green vegetables in place. For example, you can use kale, swiss chard, or even try chopped broccoli in its place. Hope this helps a bit!

Don’t mess with this recipe. The flavors that come through are absolutely divine. Using the tomatoes and beef broth make this a lighter version than a traditional goulash or Italian dish. I will be making this again and again!!

Joan, I have been looking for years for a Johnny Marzetti recipe from an old Rival crockpot recipe book and haven’t been able to find…that was some good stuff…if you have the recipe, would you mind sharing…thank you so much, Donna

Could this be made on the stove? Just saw the recipe and I don’t think I’ll have enough time to cook
it in the crock pot before I need dinner on the table..

How much fresh spinach do you use? About 10 oz.? I try to follow the recipe exactly as stated the first time I make it and many times stick right with it every time I make it!! I am so anal but want to know how it is supposed to taste. Thanks.

This looks lovely. But, when trying to pin, Pinterest won’t allow because it will lead to spam. Pretty sure you’re harmless. Except your recipes aren’t harmless to my waistline.

I have to say, I did not do in the crockpot because I was short on time, BUT, it was delicious. I did in electric skillet and it turned out fabulous. Added the cooked noodles and let it simmer for a bit and was GREAT. Thank you!

I also added a large package of spinach and Grandson loved it. He is not a fan of spinach but didn’t say a word about it being in there! Makes alot too!

This dish did not orginate in Hungary; this does not resemble Hungarian goulash in any way. This recipe is yummy and called Chop Suey.

Should the ground beef already be cooked when you put it in the crock pot?? I’m thinking of all that grease that will be sitting in there.
